Virgil Paul Rabbitt Scholarship Award

Welcome to the Virgil Paul Rabbitt Scholarship award. This scholarship was established in the winter of 2019 to honor the life of Virgil Rabbitt and to share his passion and love of the game of ice hockey! Virgil had two sons, Josh and Nathan. Virgil recognized that skills clinics were of tremendous value for helping his sons evolve into highly skilled players. He knew that a fresh perspective and alternative training modalities would benefit his boys outside of all of the coaching they received on their teams. Josh and Nathan Rabbitt were two of the first students of Ice Works “Elite Hockey Training” and they eventually played for coach Payne at Groton Dunstable Regional H.S. where they won a State Championship in 2012.

Over the years Virgil became a tremendous friend and supporter of Ice Works “Elite Hockey Training”, He shared the success the program had with his sons, and encouraged other team mates to take advantage of the training program to help them succeed in their hockey careers. Not only was Virgil a tremendous supporter of Ice Works, but for more than 18 years he was an incredible supportive, honest and loyal friend to coach Payne.

The Virgil Paul Rabbitt Scholarship is an award, that will go to the player that demonstrated an unwillingness to give up, demanded more of themselves than others and one that was a tremendous role model for other players. Virgil epitomized these characteristics, and this scholarship will support those players that go above and beyond. This award will be handed out at every (3) day Ice Works “Elite Hockey” Clinic and our extremely demanding Full Throttle Clinic. The award will be a $250 scholarship towards a future Ice Works clinic, a $100 gift card to Pure Hockey and a commemorative plaque.
